WHO CAN APPLY FOR A JOB WITH BHC?
Anyone can! Most jobs have a required level of education, experience, skills and abilities which will be described in the job posting.

WHERE ARE JOBS POSTED?
Jobs are posted on the Human Resources Development Canada (HRDC) website at http://www.jobbank.gc.ca, in the Hamilton Spectator or the Burlington Post.

WHERE DO I APPLY AND DO I HAVE TO APPLY IN PERSON?
It is not necessary to apply in person; you may fax or e-mail your resume to the Human Resources Department. Applications are available in Reception. You may complete the application and leave it with the Receptionist or you may take the application with you and return the completed application later.

WHAT OTHER DOCUMENTATION SHOULD I BRING WITH ME WHEN I APPLY AND HOW MANY COPIES WILL I NEED?
You may attach appropriate documents to your application if you wish. Applicants usually attach their resumes to their applications. Frequently, they also include letters of recommendation or any certificates received pertaining to the position. WHO REVIEWS MY APPLICATION AND WHO WILL INTERVIEW ME?
All applications are reviewed by the Human Resources Department. Persons who do not meet the minimum requirements are not considered. Qualified applicants are reviewed by the department which has the job vacancy and that department decides who will be interviewed. Applicants will usually be interviewed by the Human Resources Administrator, and the supervisor for the position posted.

WILL I BE TESTED?
Applicants for positions which require particular knowledge and skills must be tested. For example, an applicant for a job which requires clerical skills such as proficiency in Word and Excel will be tested in those areas. Assembly Technicians will receive a hands-on test. You will be tested on ability to read schematics/drawings, soldering, crimping, tool orientation and overall efficiency.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO DECIDE WHO GETS THE JOB?
Although there is no set time required to select an applicant, every effort is made to reach a prompt decision. The length of time depends on the number of applications to be screened and the nature of the position. Normally, a decision will be made between 7 and 30 days after the job advertisement has expired.

DO YOU KEEP MY APPLICATION "ON FILE" FOR OTHER JOBS WHICH MAY BECOME VACANT?
We do keep applications on file after a job has been filled. Resumes from eligible applicants are retained on file for a limited period of time, depending on the type of job applied for. Resumes are kept on file for a maximum of one year.

We will arrange your official start date. On the first day of work, report to the Human Resources Department for Orientation.
